Preparing for your immigration consultation
Thank you for scheduling a consultation with Monarch Immigration Law. If you have already been through part of the immigration process—or worked with another attorney—you may be bringing a stack of paperwork and a lot of questions. These steps can help you arrive feeling more prepared and less overwhelmed.
Two ways to share your documents
Please send your documents before we meet whenever possible. Reviewing them in advance lets us spend more of your consultation discussing your situation and options instead of reading paperwork for the first time. We may not be able to provide a quote until we have reviewed the documents related to your case. Choose whichever option fits your schedule, or use both.
Upload documents securely online
After you schedule, you will receive a client questionnaire by email. Use it to upload digital copies or clear photos—there is no need to email documents or bring originals. Please complete the questionnaire and upload what you have at least two days before we meet.
If you run out of room or have trouble uploading, contact us for a link to a secure Clio folder.
Drop off paper files in advance
If paper files are easier, schedule a separate drop-off appointment before your consultation. That way, you do not need to bring everything on the day we meet.

Documents to gather
Every case is different, and we will identify anything else you need together. If you have these records, they give us a strong starting point:
- Your passport and any other current government-issued identification
- Applications, petitions, motions, or briefs already filed with USCIS, the National Visa Center, or immigration court
- Notices you have received, including receipt, approval, denial, evidence, or hearing notices
- Paperwork from a previous attorney, plus their name and contact information
- Birth, marriage, or divorce certificates and other records showing family relationships relevant to your case
- Copies of prior visas, green cards, or other immigration status documents
- A rough timeline of entries, exits, address changes, and other important dates—it is fine if the dates are not exact
If you are missing something, please do not let that stop you from scheduling. We can identify what is still needed and work through it together.
Comfort and communication
If English is not your first language, tell us your best language when you schedule. We are glad to arrange professional interpretation so you can speak comfortably and fully understand your options. We recommend a professional interpreter instead of a family member for four important reasons.
Accuracy
Professional interpreters are trained to communicate precise legal terms, reducing the chance that something important is lost or misunderstood.
Comfort
It can be easier to discuss family conflict, difficult experiences, or immigration and criminal history with a neutral professional.
Fairness to your family
A relative—especially a child or younger family member—should not have to translate painful or complicated information.
We want you to be able to speak fully and honestly so we can give you the clearest advice possible.
You do not need to have everything figured out.
